BLOCK OF THE MONTH PROGRAM KICKS OFF
East 55th Street, between Lexington Avenue
and Third Avenue, is January Honoree |
Congratulations to the January, 2009 "East Midtown Block of the Month": East 55th Street, between Lexington Avenue and Third Avenue.

In December and January, Lana Bargraser of Allure Day Spa & Hair Design and other merchants on the block noticed some sanitation concerns. Instead of ignoring them, they did the right thing and phoned the East Midtown Partnership. As a result, we gave extra attention to the block, working with our "Clean Patrol" and local businesses to bring it back to our community's high standards of cleanliness.
The property and business owners and employees of this busy block warrant this recognition for not settling for the status quo. They saw a problem, and worked with us to fix it. That's the kind of initiative that will make this a better community and a better New York, and we're pleased to honor this block of East 55th Street as our first "Block of the Month."
Each month we'll designate a new "Block of the Month," recognizing the cleanliness, beautification, and marketing efforts and community spirit of the people who own property and work there. Merchants on the block will be given window decals to note the honor, and special recognition on our web site. If you would like to nominate your block, contact us!
